Castlebar Belair (Contraband's training partner) and Castlebar Contraband completed in the 80km endurance ride at Ararat (Vic) in preparation for the 160km Championship ride at the World Equestrain Games (WEG) in Normandy, France on the 28th of August 2014.

Contraband ridden by Kristie Taprell and Belair ridden by Stella Harbison completed the ride in a steady 5hrs 05min coming =1st MWT with Belair taking home the Best Conditioned award - Stella's riding weight was "slightly" more than Kristie's.

Contraband and two members of the Australian Team Charollette te and TDB Sharnia departed Australia on the Wednesday evening on their    35hr plus flight to the UK then onto France.

Concorde (YAMAMAH) ridden by SH Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum (UAE) & Onirik De Becherel ridden by SH Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa (BRN), jointly winning the 120km CEI 2* in a riding time of 4hrs 52min 30sec.

Winning average speed of 24.615km/hr, Concorde's total present time for the first 3 gates was 2min 50sec!!

Concorde's only son Castlebar Cadabra - (view on team horses) - has completed 4 x 40km and 2 x 80km since starting his career in September 2013.

Concorde's full brother Castlebar Gulfstream (exp UAE) came 2nd in Dubai's 100km Ladies Race, held on the 13th February 2014 in a riding time of 3hrs 18min.
His progeny are highly sought after and are competing with success both here and overseas.

CONCORDE (YAMAMAH) - GOLD

Concorde ridden by SH Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum wins Individual Gold and Best Conditioned in the Open European Championships with a riding time of 7hrs 24min 44sec averaging 21.72km/hr, 17.5 minutes in front of 2nd place.

Her average present times for the ride was 49 seconds!!

This amazing win by Concorde follows her Individual Silver Medal and Team Gold at the 2012 World Endurance Championships held at Euston Park - UK.

Concorde won The Tom Quilty Gold Cup in 2011 ridden by Kristie Taprell as a member of the Castlebar Team. Concorde's first endurance ride was in March 2005 at Mt Maquarie ridden by Amily Daw (SA).

Concorde has certainly achieved the ultimate in endurance.

Concorde's only son Castlebar Cadabra completed his first 40km Training Ride at Bet Bet on the 22.09.2013 - he has a big future ahead and a long way to go to catch his mother.

Castlebar Kadeen (exported UAE) born 14.02.1997 finished 2nd with a riding time of 4hrs 39min 39sec with an average speed of 25.75km/hr in the CEI 2* 120km Royal Windsor on May the 10th, the event sponsored by The Kingdom of Bahrain.

Kadeen was a member of the Australian Gold Medal Winning Team in the Young Riders World Championships, Bahrain 2005 ridden by Amily Daw (SA), she completed the ride in an amazing 4th place (1st Australian horse home). Kadeen's performance was replicated by Castlebar Moonlight in the Young Riders World Championships, Abu Dhabi 2011 with her Individual Silver Medal performance and Team Bronze ridden by Allix Jones (NSW) - again the 1st Australian horse to complete.

China Doll won the 2008 Tom Quilty Gold Cup (our National Championships). She also competed in the UAE & Europe coming 4th in the 2004 FEI 2* 120km French Championships in Monpazier, 4th in 2005 FEI 4* 160km Open European Championships.

China Doll was regularly awarded the Best Conditioned award and was a winner of many rides over varying distances. Completed3,300 competition kilometers before retiring to the brood mare band. (Click on her link and scroll down to her name in the mare section for her ride record).

Castlebar Scorpion - this was his first endurance ride.

Following her Quilty win in June 2011 in South Australia, Concorde was spelled prior to her departure from Castlebar in February 2012 flying with IRT to Dubai and then onto New Market in the UK for her final preparation for the World Championships.

Concorde now known as YAMAMAH completed the Championship with an average speed of 22.8 km/hr  

(riding time of 07hrs 01 min 04 sec), 19 seconds behind the Gold Medal Winner HH Sh. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum riding Madji Du Pont a French gelding.

Concorde's average presentation time to vetting was 1min 11sec, this was the quickest recovery time of the Top Ten horses in the Championships.

Concorde's dam Franklin Rajul was purchased by CASTLEBAR with Concorde as a foal at foot. Her full brother CASTLEBAR GULFSTREAM stands at stud at CASTLEBAR and is a member of their endurance teamstar

THE AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

160km - 2012

St Helens, Tasmania

The 2012 Tom Quilty Gold Cup been run and won, congratulations to the winner Brooke Sample on a superb ride.  His horse Brookleigh Excalibur a seasoned performer showed again that experienced horses and competitors come to the fore in 160km rides.  Two champions!!!

Castlebar started two of their senior stallions, (both sons of the infamous Chip Chase Sadaqa) in the ride with the aim of top ten completions to enable us to present them for the Pat Slater Cup. 

This was achieved with two great rides by Kristie Taprell (13 Quilty buckles) and Wendy Dower (3rd buckle).

Castlebar Gulfstream crossed the line in 9th place overall (6th MWT) in a riding time of 10hrs 23min.

Castlebar Tempest crossed the line in 6th place overall (2nd LWT) in a riding time of 9hrs 57min.

Castlebar Gulfstream went on to win The Pat Slater Cup.

WATCH OUT for Castlebar Gulfstream's progeny now competing - CB Cayenne, CB Cordoba, CB Duke, CB Fair Go &

Castlebar Topaz ridden by Mohammed Al Sabousi (UAE) won the CEI 3* 160km endurance race held in Dubai on the 08.03.2012 in a riding time of 6hrs 59min.

Topaz is a 1/2 sibling to one of our senior stallions standing at CASTLEBAR - Castlebar Tempest - 2nd LWT & 6th Overall at the 2012 Tom Quilty held at St Helens in Tasmaniastar
